Keys to the Good Life

I could think of a million things I would like to share with you right now... from traveling, food, fashion, work, books, relationships, family, pets, the good life and not so good parts, the higher power; I could go on and on for days, but where do I start?

I am a proud Cebuana, about to turn 24 years old this year, and life has been pretty good to me. It would be easy to complain and say I don't have what other people that are more fortunate than I do, but what good would that be to any of us? Christopher Morley once said that there are three ingredients to the good life, and these are learning, earning, and yearning. We are all in a continuous cycle in the process of attaining "the good life", and it would be such a pleasure to share these things to the people who might be interested in reading it, come across it on the internet, hear it from someone else, and however else it can be passed on to.

The Good Life I live in involves constant movement and traveling. It is such a joy to be able to go out from your comfort zone, explore and go on an adventure to the unknown. There's the thrill of looking for the perfect place to go to, how to get there, staying on the budget, booking the transportation and hotel to stay in, and actually being able to do everything according to plan (which never happens exactly how I want it by the way); but still ends up being the best trip ever (all the time).  Although I still wouldn't complain if I were to go on a weekend-trip to my favorite beach resort, Shangrila Mactan Resort and Spa, which  is just 30 minutes away from the city... or any beach resort in fact with everything catered to you and to your comfort, you just pack a bag and go.

It doesn't hurt to get around and look your best too. I love looking at social networks and keeping up with the new trends, and yes, yearning to be able to pull off what those gorgeous ladies can with their latest  gadgets and must-haves. I am an impulsive buyer (sometimes its good to be) and I am incredibly happy on those days I can purchase what I want without anyone telling me not to (haha). I am lucky enough to be able to shop at the high-end stores for my clothes, shoes, and bags... but the ultimate dream is to buy what I don't really need at Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, Jimmy Choo, Christian Loubotin, Sephora and so much moooore I tell you.

Family picture years back in the church we used to go to together, every Sunday.

But you know when Meryl Streep said, "I have a very good life, I'm lucky enough not to be deprived", I think how fortunate I am to have food served in our table, three or more times a day in our home with my family. I treasure the times when we actually sit down and eat because that's how we spend time and bond. I love eating out with my family, my friends, boyfriend, and his family too. It is exciting to try out new places from swanky restaurants that the clients of my dad own to a house turned into a hole-in-the-wall food place that you come by on the internet.

Health is also something I have just recently come to value a lot. Sometimes we let ourselves go by abusing what God has given to us to take care of and love. We have numerous drunken weekends, gluttonous food trips, stressful days, nicotine, and other unhealthy habits. But alas, its time that I share how I overcome all this to be a better and improved version of me. It is hard to be the best we can be when we are distracted with work, studying, procrastination, and even money... it can get the best of us, really.

I figured that back to basics is such a refreshing experience; from writing this right now, reading a book, listening to music, taking a walk with your dog, catching up with people and enjoying their company... and it wouldn't hurt if you were doing all this dressed to the nines in your favorite coffee shop or that new restaurant you just found out about, in your dream city, or better yet, a relaxing place by the beach.
