"One of the most valuable things in a relationship is being able to constantly change and be individual, but look to the other side to the person that you’re with and and know that they’re changing as well individually, but somehow you two can mirror each other and be the other half of that world that you both create" -Justin Timberlake
Before I go on with my series posts, I just learned to love the song 'Mirrors' and I can't help but be taken by how he can write so beautifully about his now wife, Jessica Biel, and be so rationally romantic about it.
This quote is what he said when asked about the song and it just reflects so much on what I, too, desire in my relationship as well.
If you are able to listen to the song you'll see how the song speaks such subtley sweet words and yet also poses the struggle between two people.
We had a pretty early start on our first actual day in Hong Kong. Just as we had shopping on the very first night, we're not ones to 'save the best for last'. So we decided to set the day for a magical world in Disneyland!
Around 5:30AM, we headed out to the really, really cold streets about 9-10 degrees and decided to jog. Our place is conveniently located adjacent to the Kowloon Park where we can do our workout routines. Surprisingly, we were the only 'young' people there exercising. All I could see were oldies about 50 years old and above getting their cardio on and do Tai-Chi.
We then went back to our place about 7AM and had coffee and quick breakfast then prepared for a long day ahead. I decided to bring a sling bad for the photocopies of important documents, money, map, and the camera; yet RB insisted he bring his phone for some reason although I was sure he wouldn't be able to use it there.
We took the train using our handy-dandy octopus card from Tsim Sha Tsui to Sunny Bay where you ride the Disney Express that had Mickey Mouse all over the interior and exterior, what a way to prep for what's yet to come when you reach the place. It took about 30 minutes to get to Disneyland including waiting time for the train to come. Alas, when you get off, you certainly feel like you are entering a new dimension. Although not my first time, I was so happy to see my man (though child at heart) have a big grin on his face. Then I could tell he couldn't wait to get inside!
another one of those times we fight when we travel coz I cant get a picture right HAHA!
We arrived a bit early so we could take pictures outside and purchase tickets while not getting in the back of the waiting line. I could see so many cute kids who couldn't wait to start their Disneyland experience as well.
Upon getting in, we immediately take lots of pictures and secure a map and schedule of the shows. We plotted out times that we needed to take note of so we could cover everything!
Believe me we covered all of it! Well, almost...
I believe this is where we lost the phone!
Another round at the rollercoaster!
that smile!
Late afternoon when the parade was about to start and when we were on our way to ride the carousel, RB wanted to check the bad for our things and just as fate would have it. I couldn't feel his phone inside. I was scared to death! He figured it out by how my face looked and feeling guilty I decided to backtrack places we went to and report the lost phone while he watched the parade that I had already seen twice before. By the end of the parade, he said it was okay and that luckily he was too happy in Disneyland to feel sad.
oopppss cant find it!
u mad??
So then we had a dessert splurge, probably to make ourselves feel better? We went around a bit and rode the train that we thought would bring us to Toystory Land but didn't. We both were too exhausted to walk there so we found a good spot to await the fireworks for that night.
aftermath!
Truly, our day came as unexpected as it was. But we still couldn't help but be thankful for that wonderful and magical experience. It is one place where you can really go back to being a kid and not feel guilty about it!
This day taught us a lot, most especially for the next trip we had. We were more organized and now RB holds all our things (yey for me!).
Going back to the apartment, we stopped by a traditional restaurant and tried their duck. I don't really eat duck but tried it since RB insisted. It was a bit pricey considering the small serving and the ambience was not so good. Good thing we were not that hungry to care, so we headed back to rest up before having our night out.
I was so tempted to sleep, that tiring day got to my body and feet. I'm glad RB is one to insist on things and actually pick you up to get your butt off the floor and move. So I changed into my sky-high heels, though he didn't want me to wear it, but it was my condition since he forced me to go out (BIG MISTAKE!).
We walked around to find that place we read on the internet that they described as like a strip of clubs just near our apartment. We drank a bit in 7/11 (which has the greatest deals on liquor on their abroad branches by the way) to save up once we get to the bar. We also stopped by some street food which I loved. I like how dressed up people get in Hong Kong, yet they still indulge in street food with their brief cases and high heels.
We literally walked around in circles and no one understood us. I had a lot to drink and my feet was hurting so bad already. Then to my right I see a dark alley with teenagers loud and drunk getting out of it. Alas, that was the place we were looking for! We arrived at Knutsford Terrace where they literally had a strip of bars and one building where each floor had a club of a different theme and you could choose or check out which one you liked. That was really cool but we of ended up at All Night Long, which was this bar that seemingly had a lot of Filipinos around that instantly made us feel at home.
A few drinks here and there and we were ready to call it a night, but not after seeing mayb 'Tae-Young?' hmmm.. Haha!
Anyways, that's it for this series. Next up I talk about our beautiful Sunday spent in Central and at the Peaks!
