Hong Kong Series: First of Many!

Two years pass and that first grand trip with RB to Hong Kong stays vivid on my mind.

Two giddy persons both had that excited smirks on their faces not knowing what adventure awaits.

We had an afternoon flight and arrival would be about 6-7PM in the HK Airport. Experience would advice buying and Octopus card in the airport. Its the best thing you can own in HK. It cost about 120HKD 2years ago, this includes debit money you can use almost anywhere, but most importantly for transportation. It also doesn't expire so you can choose to return it and get about a 20HKD return or keep it for future use.

We rode the N20 bus which services for 24 hours, its located right in front the exit.  This bus would take us to Tsim Sha Tsui where we would be staying with Ate Nene, a Filipina I got to know while we stayed with her on my internship. She is located in the heart of TST and for a good price :) Trains would be available too and it closes at 12MN, taxis would be too expensive to take when buses are more comfortable.

Forty-five minutes into the bus ride, we arrive at TST and get off at Cameron road where we cross the highway and go up to TST mansions where Ate Nene's place is.

Silly old me forgot her floor number although visual memory kicked in, it didn't help when I realized all floor orientations looked alike. I did finally get it on the second try with RB almost throwing a fit for me forgetting. Lol

Upon getting in, its always good to see a familiar face to take care of us and although its not a swanky hotel, its as homey as it could get. She was thankful I was there since she'll be leaving the next day for MNL and left me in charge of the house which was cool!

Resting for about 10 minutes, we then got out of the place for some late night food and adventures since we just couldn't wait for tomorrow.

I made sure to get the milk tea I loved, Gong Cha, and this just opened here in Cebu. It was located at the back of her apartment building. Then we ate some really really good street food since it was about 13degrees and their hot soup looked so good! We saved money and time so we can proceed to us exploring the streets :)

Now some people save their shopping for last, but since its not called a night market for nothing, we decided to check Mong Kok first. This was also to get some winter clothes since we realized people take Winter fashion seriously here and we were a tad underdressed for the fashion conscious people in us (mostly just RB).

We got really really good deals by the way!

After eating some crazy and not so good street food (big mistake!), I got my waffle covered in peanut butter stuff which is just the best for dessert.

Then we got back to the hotel for a good nigtt sleep so we could have an early start for the next day :)

First night was definitely one for the books!

Tips: remember to bring HKD or USD for extra money... And do not forget to bring PHP for travel taxes and stuff pr excess baggage at the airport! Ugh, this got RB pissed so we wouldn't want to happen again. From that day on, I was very meticulous with these things; as well as the rooms and locations of the booked places :)

Xoxo,

Xarie
